Project 366, October 2016

This month's photos are a study in halves. Half of the month has been spent in Japan, and we're halfway through our trip. Here are my favorite photos for October. The rest of the photos from this month are on the October page.

My favorite shot from this month is Mt. Fuji.

I like how the mountain is looming over the mountains around Lake Ashi, and the Hakone Shrine torii gives a splash of color. This was shot during a few minutes' period of time that we were able to see Mt. Fuji. A mere hour later, it was behind clouds.

I also like Torii, which was taken at Nezu Shrine in Tokyo. Fushimi Inari Shrine in Kyoto has many more torii, but there weren't many people at Nezu, so it was easier to take more time to experiment without holding people up.

The Mondrian Dress was at the Yves Saint Laurent exhibit at the Seattle Art Museum. The installers made this shot easy, having so much open space around the dress. I like that the greyscale floor, wall, and mannequin make a good background to the splashes of color in the dress.

The rest of the photos from October are on the page for that month.
