Cutting boards

I needed some small gifts for this month so I went to an old standby, cutting boards. They're relatively quick to make, offer lots of possibilities for variation, and usually end up looking pretty nice.

The cutting boards I've made in the past have been symmetric, so I decided to try making them asymmetric this time. Some of them ended up having the accents less offset than these, but they still looked OK (meaning as if that was the intent instead of a mistake).

I used a homemade finish of mineral oil and paraffin, which is easy to mix (shave some paraffin into some mineral oil, wait until the wax dissolves), easy to apply, and buffs to a nice satin sheen. You can see it a little, but in person the grain really pops.

I've added a page with this and other cutting boards I've made.
